2010 Boat Storage Information and Lottery Registration
Harvard Parks and Recreation offers boat storage at Bare Hill Pond for Harvard residents/taxpayers only. There are storage racks that can accomodate canoes or kayaks, boat moorings in the cove and near the picnic area and a few boat slips. Since demand for these spots is high, we conduct a lottery each year to assign slots. The lottery drawing is done at a Parks and Recreation Commission meeting and names are drawn randomly. Stickers will be issued to all lottery winners. All boats stored at the beach must have a current 2010 sticker displayed.
Note: The Boat Storage Lottery was held on Monday, April 19th. See the results at this link
The costs for boat storage for 2010 are:
Canoe/kayak (90 available) $20
Cove mooring (16 available) $40
Outer mooring (16 available) $100
Boat slip (8 available) $300
There is no money required at this time to register for the lottery. The fees will be collected after you have been assigned a slot.
Canoe/Kayak Storage Stickers are limited to 2 per household. If you are requesting 2 stickers for kayaks you will be given one storage slot for both kayaks. In this case, the cost will be $20 for the two stickers since you are only using one rack spot.
Barba's Point: There is a canoe rack available at Barba's Point which is across the cove from the town beach. The point is accessed via a walking path that starts at the tennis courts behind the high school. Parking is available behind the high school. If you indicate a preference for Barba's Point, your name will be in the drawing for Barba's Point and if not chosen, will be added to the drawing for a slot at the beach.

Notices will go out to winners by April 20th via email unless other contact instructions are noted on the registration form. Winners will have until May 7th to submit payment for their fees and will be given instructions on how to do so. Payments can be made online or via check. If we do not receive payment or winners do not contact us regarding payment by May 7th they will forfeit their storage slot and it will be offered to the next person in the lottery waiting list.
This year the canoe/kayak racks will be available as early as April 30th until Oct 23rd. Moorings and boat slips will be available from June 5th (possibly earlier) until Sept. 18th.
Changes to canoe/kayak rack assignments Beginning in 2009, the slots will be available on a first come, first served basis. Some of the lower rack slots will be reserved for those residents who have special needs and require easy access to their boat. Those slots will be marked as 'Reserved' and we ask you to avoid using those slots unless you have been given a special permit. All boats on the racks must have a current permit sticker attached or the boats will be removed.
